| A guide for Grooms - how to prepare for your wedding day. |

A wedding can be the best day of your life, or a hilarious disaster. Perhaps the strongest bonds are formed couples who work their way through what life throws at them. She’s excited and has been preparing for months, you just hope it goes smoothly, her dad finally likes you, and your bride doesn’t elope with one of the best men. Here is a guide to help grooms plan for and get through the momentous occasion of a wedding.
Don’t get completely drunk the night before.
Try not to over do it the night before. She’ll never forgive you if you go green and deposit last night’s consumption on her beautiful white dress and yourself.
Get a tuxedo that fits.
Dress sharply, but have some backup clothes in case you can’t keep down last nights booze. A single-Breasted One- or Two-Button classic tux will always do nicely.
Choose a mate who is actually funny and eloquent to be the best man.
If he’s going to represent and make fun of you in front of your family, her family, and both your friends; choose someone that can do it well. Also don’t let them drink too much before the night before or at the reception.
Don’t get paranoid about your best man trying to make off with the bride.
It’s the big day, everyone looks gorgeous, of course the bride and best man will flirt – it does not mean anything else; in fact the bride will flirt with everyone, it’s the biggest day of her life.
If you see the best man reappear adjusting his trousers, followed by the bride.
Ok you weren’t paranoid, be prepared to defend your honor and fight, it’s the law of the jungle and expected in this scenario.
Make sure you’ve budgeted correctly for expenses.
Sometimes costs quoted for things like catering, the band etc. don’t always include all relevant Tax’s. If you are footing the bill make sure you know the real cost. If someone else is footing the bill, don’t hesitate, order more or better champagne.
Make sure you’ve got a budget.
Definitely don’t blow your wedding budget gambling with your mates. There’s a story on the web of someone who blew their wedding budget playing blackjack. Try telling that to your bride to be.
Get proper wedding entertainment.
Letting one of your other mates lose with their trance or hip-hop collections just doesn’t cut the mustard in front of grandma. Family friendly cheese is the order of the day if you want to get everyone having a good time. If the 80’s were good for one thing…it was wedding music.
Relax & enjoy it. She loves you. It’ll be a great day.
